2015/2016 UNILORIN To Admit 7, 800 Candidates This Session

The information reaching nigerianedu.com has it that the Vice chancellor, University of Ilorin, Prof. Abdulganiyu Ambali, has said that there are only 7,800 admission slots for the over 65,000 candidates that participated in this years post-UTME screening exercise.

According to him, a total of 65, 000 candidates wrote the post UMTE computer-based test, out of which 30, 384 candidates scored 50% and above.

The Vice Chancellor said the institution’s admission quota for this year was reduced by JAMB. However, the institution has written to JAMB to increase the quota as the institution has what it takes to accommodate more students

This is to inform all on the latest gist on how about 35 candidates who were supposed to participate in the post-UTME screening exercise of University of Ilorin were disqualified due to indecent dressing.

This is to inform candidates who applied University of Ilorin Remedial Studies Programme for 2014/2015 that the admission list has been released.

Candidates are to check their admission status by clicking on Remedial Login link (Please login with your Remedial Application Number e.g. UIL/REM/2013/…. and your password).

UNILORIN Notice On Student Penultimate Year

This is for all students who are in the penultimate year of their academic programmes are hereby informed that screening of certificates and other related documents will commence on Monday, 9th March, 2015 and will end on Friday, 3rd April, 2015 at 9.00 a.m. each day. Any student who fails to appear before the Faculty Screening Committee within the stipulated period stands the risk of not graduating on schedule and will, in addition, pay a fine of N3,000.00 for late screening.

In view of the above, you are enjoined to come along with your ORIGINAL CREDENTIALS to the screening centres.

UNILORIN Matriculates 12,650 for 2014/2015 Academic Session

The University of Ilorin recently matriculated 12,650 students for its 2014/2015 academic session.
It was learnt that 80 of the matriculates are foreign students.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof AbdulGaniyu Ambali while speaking at the ceremony told the matriculating students to be grateful to God.
In his words, .the first important thing is that you should be grateful, grateful to God who makes everything possible; grateful to your parents and guardians who have seen you to this stage.

“I know some of you would wonder why you should be grateful to the university since you are qualified and your effort brought you here. The truth is that the university is creating more space for those who are qualified.

The University of Ilorin 2014/2015 FIRST SEMESTER ADD and DROP FORM NOW OPEN FOR BOTH FRESHER AND RETURNING STUDENTS.

UNILORIN Admitted 12,650 out of 114,700 Candidates - VC

The Vice chancellor of the University of Ilorin Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali during the matriculation ceremony disclosed that the institution admitted only 12,650 students out of the 114,700 applicants.

He further stated that out of the 114,700 applicants only 41,470 met the cut-off mark 180 in UTME to qualify for the post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination screening.

The number of successful students who passed the post-UTME according to the VC was 22,601. While the number of students final admitted were 12,650 with 80 being international students.

UNILORIN Set to Graduate 48 First Class Students

The management of the University of Ilorin has revealed that the institution will be producing 48 First Class graduates and 106 Ph.D. holders in the upcoming convocation ceremony.

This was made known by the Deputy Director, Corporate Affairs, of the institution Mr. Kunle Akogun.
According to him, the upcoming 30th convocation ceremony will have about 5,421 graduands.

He further stated that 1,190 would be graduating with Second Class Upper degree, while another 2,814 would be graduating with Second Class Lower degree.

The ceremony is scheduled to hold between October 20 and 23.

UNILORIN: Students' PC Tablets now Ready for Distribution

This is a news that will surely please the heart of all unilorites expecially the freshers.

The leadership of the University of Ilorin Students' Union has assured fresh students of the University that the much-awaited PC Tablets are now ready for distribution.The commissioning of the ipad distribution will commence on Thursday, 16th May at the university auditorium.

This assurance was given last Friday (May 9, 2014) in a statement jointly signed by the Students' Union President and Senate President, Lawal Ahmed Abiodun and Alawaye Mumeen Kabir, respectively.
The statement made available to Unilorin Bulletin dismissed insinuations that the University management had shelved the idea of distributing the PC Tablets.

Instead, the Students' Union leadership disclosed that the PC Tablets, to be distributed this week, are coming with additional package called “Starter-Pack”.

UNILORIN Approves N4.5m Grant For Three Researchers

The authorities of the University of Ilorin have approved N4.5m for three of the institution’s academics.

The school Vice-Chancellor, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali, announced this on Monday while receiving three of the scholars in his office.

The beneficiaries are professors Kunle Ayorinde; Victor Alabi, and Taiwo Ibiyemi.

He said the academics were supervisors of the students whose theses excelled in the Nigeria Universities Doctoral Thesis Awards Scheme organised by the National Universities Commission last year.

Ambali said, “The university recognised the fact that without their expertise and thoroughness, the students’ theses would not have won the awards.

UNILORIN Student Wins Essay Contest

A student of the University of Ilorin, Muhammed Abdullahi, has emerged winner in an essay competition organised for tertiary institution students.

The competition, organised by the Glorious Islamic Centre, also saw Adediran Farouq of Wings Private School, Iwo, Osun State, winning the contest at the secondary level.

Abdullahi received an iPad, while Farouq got a laptop.

The GIC President, Akin Laguda, said the competition was to reward bright students in various higher institutions.

He urged government at all levels to give education the priority it deserves.

He said,“We devised this competition as our own little way of making the students useful to the society and the nation at large. I am glad the turnout has been impressive every year.”

Why We Published Names Of 24 Expelled Students–Unilorin

Dean, Student Affairs, University of Ilorin, Prof. Lawal Omotesho, said today that the publication of the names of 24 expelled students was to serve as deterrent to others.

Omotesho told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin that the university expelled the students for various acts of misconduct.

“The fact that the university expelled the student is not new, but their names had to be published to serve as warning to fresh students.

“This is also necessary as orientation programme for fresh students is holding today,” he said.

He said the expelled students were from various faculties while their offences included forgery of certificates and examination malpractice.

UNILORIN 2013/2014 Matriculation Ceremony Comes Up January 10

The matriculation ceremony for all registered fresh students is to be conducted on 10thJanuary, 2014.

To this end, all the fresh students are expected to go through the dummy matriculation register which has been forwarded to their Faculties for a careful perusal and confirmation of their bio-data.

It is to be noted that any request from fresh students concerning amendment or correction of their bio-data after the matriculation ceremony will not be countenanced.

The dummy lists which must have been duly endorsed by all fresh students are to be returned to the Academic Support Services on or before 7thJanuary, 2014 for further urgent necessary action.

The above directive is expected to be treated as a matter of immediacy.
