Examination Malpractice - WAEC Dragged To Court

Lecturer Kidnapped By Unknown Gunmen- OAU

This is to inform you that Dr. Femi Omisore, a lecturer in Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) has been reported kidnapped by unknown gunmen last friday.
He was said to b on jis way to a burial ceremony in Oye-ekitiwhen he was attacked by the gunmen. It was learnt that the gfubnenj shot and killed his driver at the spot as the driver was said to have refused to stop when the gunmen ordered him to do so.

NDU Students Arrested For Possesion Of Illegal Arms

This to let you know that two students of Niger Dealt University were yesterday arrested by the operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Bayelsa State Command.

EBSU Expels 23 Student And Suspends Others

This is to inform you that the senate committee of Ebonyi State University (EBSU), Abakaliki at its 30th Regular meeting held on 27th January, 2015 has approved the following sanctions against the under listed students who were involved in various categories of examination misconducts.

The sanctions and the list of concerned students stand as follows:

All these students who are expelled permanently from the University for acts of Grievous Examination Misconduct are not to be seen in EBSU.

Fed Poly Ado Ekiti Shut Down Indefinitely- Read more

 


The management of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti has shut down the institution as you are reading this report, which resulted in a mass protest by the students.

  We observe that the Rector of the institution, Dr. Taiwo Akande, ordered the closure of the polytechnic following the protracted strike action by labour unions in the institution.

ASUP, the Non-Academic Staff Union and the Senior Staff Union of Nigeria Polytechnics of Fed poly Ado has been on strike protesting against Akande’s leadership style which they said was against their interest

However, in a statement issued by the Deputy Registrar, Information, Mr. Ade Adeyemi-Adejolu, the rector said in the statement that the decision was taken on behalf of the Academic Board of Studies.

The statement also claimed that the closure was a mid-semester break for its full time programme and directed all full time students to return home with immediate effect and await further instructions.

This did not go down well with the student who took to the streets demanding the removal of the rector over failure to reconcile with the aggrieved unions.

Delta State Poly Dismisses Two Lecturers Over Extortion

Two Lecturers of the Delta State Polytechnic Ozoro have lost their jobs following what was described as gross misconduct and extortion by the lecturers.

The two lecturers according to reports were found guilty of extorting money from students for project supervision.

While responding to this, the rector of the institution, , Dr. Jacob Oboreh, mentioned that the action to terminate the appointments of the lecturers was solely based on the decision of the governing council of the institution after thorough investigation.

According to the governing council, the termination of their appointments took effect from January 2, 2015.

UNIMAID Student Allegedly Murdered by Military Man in Maiduguri

A graduate of the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID), Mohammed Sulum, was allegedly shot and killed by a military man last Wednesday in Maiduguri, Borno State.
The 22-year-old graduate of Physics was said to have given the soldier a lift in his car but the officer shot him before he could reach his destination and stole his car.
The father of the deceased, Konto Sulum, who narrated the incidence said: “The soldier who shot my son thought he was dead as he dragged his corpse out of the car and zoomed off. But then Mohammed struggled to crawl to the roadside near Asita Hotel in Bolori Ward where a good Samaritan called the attention of civilian Joint Task Force and they tried to rush him to the hospital but he died before reaching the hospital”.

CULTISM: Six Students of College of Education, Ekiadolor Arrested

The Edo State Police Command yesterday paraded 33 suspects arrested for different crimes ranging from kidnapping, robbery, murder, defilement, impersonation and unlawful possession of firearms.

Paraded among these suspects were six students of the College of Education Ekiadolor for alleged cultism.

Also paraded were two suspects identified as Thompson Oguwzi and Labaran Mohammed for impersonating Army personnel.

Final Year Female Benue Varsity Student Dies In Hotel Room

A 21-year-old final year female student of the Benue State University, BSU, Joan Adaaku, has been reportedly found dead in a hotel room located in the heart of Makurdi, the Benue State capital.
