The 2017/2018 Freshmen Orientation of the University of Calabar will be held from the 4th-5th April, 2018. The event which will commence from 9am daily will take place at the UNICAL International Conference Centre.

The Opening Ceremony of the event is billed for 4th April, 2018.

Latest trending report has it that a lecturer of the University of Calabar, School of Medical Sciences, identified as Dr Stephen Ndifon and two other students of the institution were on Tuesday abducted by some hoodlums and taken to an unknown destination. 

It is gathered according to the reporter and a colleague to the kidnapped lecturer, “The hoodlums came in from the water which is quite close to the residential quarters and shot sporadically scaring away even our security men before invading Doctor Ndifon’s place to kidnap him and the students staying in his boys quarters”. .

We are to inform all that the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof Zana Itiunbe Akpagu this morning at the council chambers briefed the gentlemen of the press on the arrangements that has been put in place for the convocation ceremony.

Vice chancellor of the University announced that the activities of the institution's 29th Convocation began yesterday March 9th during the interdenominational service and will run through Saturday March 12th, 2016.

New VC Has Been Appointed In UNICAL - Read Full Details

This information has it that the Governing Council of the University of Calabar has appointed Prof. Zana Akpagu as the new Vice Chancellor of the University.

Before his appointment, he was the deputy vice-chancellor, administration.

He was selected out of the eight candidates, who were duly screened and participated in the interview selection exercise, which has been described as one of the fairest since the inception of the institution.

He will take over from Prof. James Epoke, whose tenure ends on November 30, 2015.

UNICAL 2015/2016 Postgraduate Admission Has Been Announced

This is to inform all concerned that applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into graduate programmes in the 2015/2016 academic year leading to the award of Postgraduate Diploma, Masters and Doctor of Philosophy Degree of the University of Calabar.

A. GENERAL REGULATIONS
Courses may be offered full-time or part-time. All programmes begin with coursework and end with a project for Graduate Diploma, MBA, MPA and MPAS or thesis for Master's and Ph.D degree.
1. DURATION OF PROGRAMME: For full-time studies the Postgraduate Diploma lasts for two (2) semesters. The Master's degrees last for 3 - 5 semesters; and the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) programmes last for 6 - 10 semesters.
