The latest information on air revealed that the management of the Federal Polytechnic, Idah in Kogi, has shut down the institution, following students violence over the murder of their colleague, Gabriel Adiku, by unknown persons.

Following students’ demonstration that erupted last Friday night due to disputed student union’s elections, Jaromogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST) has been closed down indefinitely.

This is the second time educational activities in two different universities has been disrupted due to election wrangles within a week. Last week, in Maseno University, learning was interrupted after a section of the school was destroyed by fire allegedly started due to leadership disputes among students.

Kwara State Poly Aspirants Protest non-inclusion of their Names in the Admission List

It was learnt that some candidates who applied for admission into Kwara state Polytechnic are protested the non-inclusion of their names in the recently released 2014/2015 admission list.

The protesters barricaded the gate of the institution hindering smooth vehicular and human movement around the area.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Kwara State Command, Mr. Ajayi Okasanmi 13 of the protesters have been arrested by the police.

College of Education Ekiadolor Closed Down Following Students Protest

The management of College of Education Ekiadolor has ordered a close down of the institution following students’ protests.

Students of the institution last Wednesday staged a protest along the Benin-Ore expressway over the poor state of the institution and the intention of the lecturers to go on strike which the perceived may disrupt their examination and academic activities.

It was learnt that in the course of the protest, the students went violent and destroyed two cars in the convoy of the Esama of Benin Kingdom in the state, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, which were among other vehicle caught up in the gridlock caused by the protest.

Save LASU Group Protests In Lagos

A body known as The Save Lagos State University Campaign Movement staged a peaceful protest on Wednesday at Ogba, Lagos, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.

It was learnt that the protest was in response to the high fees imposed on newly-admitted students of the institution.

The protesters are made up of members of the Save LASU groups, including the Education Rights Campaign, the National Union of LASU Students and some sympathetic members of the public.

They chanted solidarity songs and marched from the International Press Centre, Dideolu Court, Ogba, where they had addressed reporters.

They carried placards with inscriptions, `Fee hike, and the root cause of crisis in LASU ’, ‘Save LASU Save the future’ and ‘LASU is for all and not the rich only.”
