The Enugu State University of Technology has released the result of the post utme exam conducted from 4th - 5th of August 2014.

ESUT Lecturers Shun Classrooms As Students Return

Students of the Enugu State University of Technology started returning for lectures on Monday, four days after the official resumption date of January 2.

Our correspondent, however, observed that the commencement of lectures in most faculties were skeletal, as most of the lecturers were not seen within the school premises.

More so, some students wondered if the internal wrangling between the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Cyprian Onyeji, and members of the local chapter of Academic Staff Union of Universities wouldn’t affect academic activities.

The vice chancellor and ESUT-ASUU had in December 2013 clashed over the appointment of deans of faculties in the institution and non-payment of salary arrears.

But the institution’s management dismissed such, saying there was no more wrangling between the union and Onyeji.

Vice-Chancellor of Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Prof. Cyprain Onyeji, and the Academic Staff Union of Universities have clashed over the appointment of deans of faculties in the institution and non payment of salary arrears.

The rivalry, our correspondent gathered on Monday, started shortly after the suspension of the nationwide strike of ASUU on December 17.

It was learnt that before the strike was called off, the ESUT vice-chancellor had directed that the suspended deanship elections into faculties where elections were due should be conducted on Monday, December 23.

His directive was contained in a memorandum by the Registrar,which also stated that nominations already received for the elections remained valid and that further nominations were to be accepted from interested persons until 3pm on Friday, December 20.

However, the leadership of ASUU kicked against the scheduled date for

ASUU Strike: Students Disappointed as ESUT Postpones Examination

The second semester examination of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) could not hold on December 9, 2013, Monday, due to the
absence of lecturers.

The university had previously announced commencement of the examination on December 2, 2013, following Federal
Government's directive for the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to resume work.

The students at the Enugu Campus were waiting
for question papers. In vain. Prof. Joseph Aneke, the Dean of the Faculty of management and Social Sciences, said the lecturers were waiting for instruction from the ASUU to resume work.

"There is no instruction from ASUU for academic activities to resume. That is why the examination could not start today.

"Due to the strike, academic activities have
been postponed indefinitely until the strike is
called off.

"It is a pity that students have to go, while
their examinations which were supposed to start today have been postponed", Prof. Aneke stated.

The students were extremely disappointment over the situation, urged ASUU and FG to resolve the impasse and save the students from the embarrassment and risk of travelling.

Edozie Chukwu, 200 level student of Insurance, said he was disappointed that the examination did not hold after travelling all the way from Lagos.
