The current trending report has it that the Vice Chancellor (VC) of the University of Calabar, Calabar (Unical), Prof. Zana Akapgu has been awarded “Best Performing” VC in Nigeria in the last one year by a London based news platform, ‘The Nigerian’ and the ‘Nigeria Print Journalism Magazine’.

Due To Low 2015/2016 Admission Quota IBBU Could Not Admit More Candidates - VC

The latest information on our desk the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU) Lapai has disclosed that the university could not admit more than 30 per cent of those who applied for admission in the 2015/2016 session due to low admission quota to the institution by NUC.

News As UNIUYO Inaugurates New Vice-Chancellor

We are to inform the general public that the staff, students and invited guests of the University of Uyo are currently assembled at the Permanent Site of the University in Nwanibia Road to inaugurate the incoming Vice-Chancellor and bid farewell to the outgoing one.

The out going Vice-Chancellor is Prof. Mrs. Comfort Ekpo who has been at the helms for power since 2010. She is the first female Vice-Chancellor of the institution. Today, she is handing over to Prof. Enefiok Essien who was the erstwhile Dean of the Faculty of Law in the same institution.

New VC Has Been Appointed In UNICAL - Read Full Details

This information has it that the Governing Council of the University of Calabar has appointed Prof. Zana Akpagu as the new Vice Chancellor of the University.

Before his appointment, he was the deputy vice-chancellor, administration.

He was selected out of the eight candidates, who were duly screened and participated in the interview selection exercise, which has been described as one of the fairest since the inception of the institution.

He will take over from Prof. James Epoke, whose tenure ends on November 30, 2015.

UI- New Deputy Vice Chancellor Elect

The University of Ibadan has elected a new Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), in the person of Prof. Gbemisola Oke of the Department of Periodontology and Community Dentistry, Faculty of Dentistry, College of Medicine.

This was contained in a statement by Mr Olatunji Oladejo, the Director of Public Communication of the great institution.

She is the 2nd female to occupy the position in the institution.

Prof Oke graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) in 1981 and bagged a Master of Public Health (MPH) from University of California, Los Angeles in 1985.

AAUA New Vice Chancellor Announced

 



The government of Ondo State has appointed Prof. Igbeleke Ajibefun as the new Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba (AAUA).

This followed the expiration of the tenure of Prof. Olufemi Mimiko as the VC of AAUA.

Before the appointment of Prof. Ajibefun he was the Rector of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo (RUGIPO), a polytechnic owned by the state.

Prof Ajibefun is a First Class Honours graduate of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA).

He began his academic career in 1993 as an assistant lecturer, from where he rose to become an Associate Professor in October, 2006.

He bagged his M.Sc and PhD degrees at the University of Ibadan and the Federal University of Technology, Akure, respectively.

UNIABUJA Lecturers Drag Instituton to Court Over the Appointment of New VC

Lecturers of the University of Abuja have dragged the Governing Council of the university to court over the appointment of the new VC.

According to the lecturers the Candidate appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of the institution happens to be the third best among the candidates that were considered as professor Umar Danbatta scored 87%. Professor AbdulRaheem Adebayo Lawal scored 73% while the appointed VC, Prof Michale Adikwu scored 64%.

Dr Raji Rasheed, Dr Muktar Muhammad and Dr Nkoli Ifenyi remarked that the appointment of professor Adikwu, a professor of pharmacy from University if Nigeria Nsukka didn’t only ignore merit, but the newly appointed VC also happens to be professor of Pharmacy a course which is not currently offered by the institution.

TASUED VC, Activists Hail Judgement

The Akolade Arowolo murder case, created a media sensation, that was keenly followed by different women rights groups, many of whom staged different protests calling for justice when the case first broke in 2011.

LASU Students Protest, Attack Vice Chancellor


The second semester examination of Lagos State University (LASU) was disrupted on Thursday, as students went on the rampage, destroying properties in the process.
The protest had started on Wednesday over the closure of the university’s registration portal.

Vice Chancellor of the University, John Obafunwa, was reportedly stoned as he tried to evade the riotous students who had blocked the main gate and made bonfires on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

FUNAAB Orientation: Be Focused – VC Advises Pre-Degree Students

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olusola Oyewole, has advised Pre-Degree students of the University to be focused, in order to overcome T̶̲̥̅̊Ђę challenge ahead of them in life.

Vice-Chancellor gave this advice during the 2013/2014 Orientation Programmes for Pre-Degree and Cambridge ‘A’ level students of the University’s Institute for Human Resources Development (INHURD).

Professor Oyewole called on the students to be conscious of why they were in the Institute, have a clear vision and get prepared to face future challenges. Quoting the foremost educationist, Late Dr. Tai Solarin, who once wrote that “May your road be rough”, he charged them to always bear it in mind that the road to success is rough. UNN Workers Resume Protest, Insist VC Must Go

University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN, workers made good their threat on Monday as they continued their joint protest calling for the removal of the university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Bartho Okolo.

The workers, who just returned from Christmas and New Year break started the protest on December 18, 2013.

They are urging the Federal Government to reinstate the suspended Pro-chancellor of the university, Dr. Emeka Enejere and remove Okolo on allegation of corruption and financial recklessness.

They were led during the protest under the platform of Joint Action Committees (JAC), by University union leaders, who included Dr. Ifeanyichukwu Abada, ASUU, Godfrey Ugwu, NASU, Mr Anthony Onwu of NATT and Mr Paul Obodoike of SSANU.

The protest started with a prayer session at the UNN Freedom Square, after which the workers marched to the second gate opposite Zik’s Flat hostels, chanting solidarity songs.

As result of the protest, all academic and administrative activities have remained paralysed in the institution.

ASUU, ESUT VC Clash Over Appointment Of Deans

Vice-Chancellor of Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Prof. Cyprain Onyeji, and the Academic Staff Union of Universities have clashed over the appointment of deans of faculties in the institution and non payment of salary arrears.

The rivalry, our correspondent gathered on Monday, started shortly after the suspension of the nationwide strike of ASUU on December 17.

It was learnt that before the strike was called off, the ESUT vice-chancellor had directed that the suspended deanship elections into faculties where elections were due should be conducted on Monday, December 23.

His directive was contained in a memorandum by the Registrar,which also stated that nominations already received for the elections remained valid and that further nominations were to be accepted from interested persons until 3pm on Friday, December 20.

VC Tasks Fresh Students On Good Behaviour

The Vice-Chancellor, Caleb University, Imota, Lagos State, Prof. Ayodeji Olukoju, has urged fresh students of the school to endeavour to lead an exemplary life.

He spoke during the institution’s matriculation last Wednesday. About 422 students where admitted to the university for the 2013/2014 session.

The VC, who enjoined the students to comply with the rules of the university, also urged them to desist from any act capable of tarnishing the image of the institution.

He added, “The high moral and academic standards in line with the university’s vision and mission need to be maintained. You must not only love Caleb and live it but also must be committed to the university’s core values grounded in its identity as a Christian-faith based institution.”
