BREAKING NEWS: IMSU NASU And SSANU Suspend 3 Months Strike, ASUU To Follow Suit

The latest news report has it that Non-academic Staff Union of Universities, (NASU) and Senior Staff Association Of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) chapter of imo state University (IMSU) has called off its 3 months strike.

It was learnt that the announcement came after the emergency meeting held on Tuesday 21st June 2016 to discuss recent developments concerning the strike.

However, academic activities are yet to resume as ASUU chapter of the institution is yet to call off its strike though efforts are already being made to see it

Non-Implementation of 2009 Agreement by the FG may Cause Another Strike - SSANU

The Senior Staff of Nigerian Universities SSANU has called on the Federal Government to duly review the 2009 agreement without further delay to avoid another strike action disrupting academic calendar in government owned universities.

This was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of its 24th regular Executive Council meeting at the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) signed by SSANU National President, Comrade Samson Ugwoke, and the National PRO, Comrade NAD Aboribo, where it was stated that the agreement has since been due for review with effect from August, 2012 and the government is foot-dragging to the implementation.

SSANU Threatens Strike, Warns FG

The Senior Staff Association of the Nigerian Universities (SSANU),Western Zone, yesterday threatened to down tools if the Federal Government decides to fully implement the Needs Assessment Report which it described as poisonous to Non-Academic Staff in universities.

Addressing newsmen on the issues raised by the Prof. Yakubu led Needs Assessment Committee at a lecture held at the University of Benin (UNIBEN), the National Vice President and chairman Western Zone, of the SSANU, Comrade Alfred Jimoh, said the association had earlier faulted the composition of the Needs committee set up by the Federal Government to identify the gaps in the university system.

He said the committee was not only “lopsided but one sided because it excluded both students and the non-teaching staff in the system and compromise only members of the Academic Staff and the then incumbent President of ASUU. “The report of the committee is laced with some poisonous and odious recommendations against the Non teaching staff, which we

SSANU, LASU chapter vows to continue strike

Striking Senior Staff Association of Nigerian
Universities, Lagos State University chapter, on
Friday vowed that it would continue strike until
its demands were met.

The Chairman of the chapter, Mr Oseni Saheed,
made this known in an interview with the News
Agency of Nigeria in Lagos.

He said that the union was dissatisfied with the
manner the university’s Governing Council was
handling the strike.

The unionist also said that SSANU was not
satisfied with some policies introduced by the
council.
