2015/2016 UNIBEN Direct Entry Screening Exercise Has Been Announced

This special information reaching us on our news desk which has it that the University of Benin (UNIBEN) POST-DIRECT ENTRY Screening Exercise for 2015/2016 Academic Session will take place between 28th September, 2015 and 29th September, 2015 in designated centres within Ugbowo Campus of the University. The Screening Exercise shall be conducted using the Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.

All candidates are expected to be seated, latest one hour before the stipulated time for the screening exercise.


PLEASE NOTE: Only candidates who applied through JAMB for DIRECT ENTRY Admission and chose University of Benin as First Choice are eligible for this Screening Exercise.

2015/2016 UNIBEN Direct Entry Screening Exercise Update

Deadline For UNIBEN 2014/2015 Sales of Inter-Faculty/Departmental Transfer Form Update.

We are to inform students who wish to transfer from their present Faculty/Department to another one, that sales of forms for the 2014/2015 Inter-faculty/Departmental transfer exercise will officially close on Friday, 13th February, 2015 ( Tomorrow ).

Meanwhile, submission of completed transfer forms has already commenced and a deadline of Friday, 13th February, 2015 has been set as the only last day of Submission of completed forms.

UNIBEN Announces 2014/2015 Postgraduate Supplementary Admission.

This is to inform you that suitably qualified candidates are invited for admission into the following Postgraduate programmes leading to the award of Postgraduate Diploma, Masters degree and Ph.D in the Department of Theatre Arts and Mass Communication and The National Institute For Legislative Studies (NILS) Abuja.

A. GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

I. A Candidate for postgraduate studies in the university of Benin must have obtained at least five (5) credits in WASC, NECO, GCE (ordinary level or their equivalents,) A credit pass in Maths and English is required.

II. Four credits of Ordinary level plus OND (not pass), NCE, IJMB or Advance level passes.

III. A holder of a Pass (Degree/Diploma) is not qualified for admission into the postgraduate programme of the University of Benin. In addition, all holders of 3rd class degree must possess PGD to be considered for admission into the Masters programmes.

IV. Candidates who obtained Masters degree but with Weighted Average Score (WAS) between 55.0-59% can only be considered for admission into the M.Phil programme in the first instance.

V. A candidate that are applying for the Ph.D in any programme of the University of Benin must have obtained a weighted average score of 60% or letter grade ‘B’ average in the Masters degree.

VI. A candidate applying for the PhD with a Master’s degree from any other University who in his/her Master’s study has not previously taken the compulsory courses or their equivalents similar to the ones in the University of Benin shall on admission be required to offer and pass such courses with a minimum of 60% or letter grade ‘B’.

Candidates should request their former Universities/Institutions to forward their academic transcript(s) to the “Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies”, to reach him not later than 8 weeks from the date of this publication.Applications of candidates whose transcripts are not forwarded to the school shall not be processed.

We have outlined here step to take to successfully download your Clearance Invitation Letter.
You can, by following this simple steps;

1, log on to your kofa account using the student i.d and password after you have done your online clearance

2.Click on my data

3.Select clearance data

4.Then click on "Download clearance invitation letter"


N.B-you can only download it when you have saved and requested your clearance.

The PART-TIME/SANDWICH/DIPLOMA candidates admitted into University of Benin for 2014/2015 academic session are required to login at HYPERLINK "http://www.uniben.edu"http://www.uniben.edu, click waeup portal with the PART-TIME/SANDWICH/DIPLOMA username and password used for their application and result checking.

Click on “Download application slip”. Print it and take note of your ID and Password. You will henceforth, use your ID and Password for subsequent login. Login and print your provisional admission letter.

UNIBEN Student Emerges Winner of Spoken Words Competition

A newly admitted student of the University
of Benin (UNIBEN), Joshua Paul Uma, has emerged the winner of the Season 4 Edition of the spoken word contest tagged “Final Showdown” beaten 20 other poets to win a sum of N100,000 (Hundred thousand Naira).

The competition which was organized by i2X Media Company Limited, is one of Nigeria's most prestigious
spoken word events.

Paul broke down with tears of joy after i2x CEO and convener of the event, Olumide Holloway, presented him with his N100,000 cheque.

First and second runners-up, Aremu and Green, were also given cash rewards of N20,000.00 and N10,000.00 respectively.

UNIBEN Clearance Update 2014/2015

There has been questions from UNIBEN prospective students on when the 2014/2015 clearance will commence.

Though there has not been any official date released by the school authorities, however, according to the 2013/2014 academic calendar the new session (2014/2015) is expected to commence on 10th January for new students and 17th January 2015 for old students.

I believe this will give you an idea concerning when the clearance will commence and also guide you towards your preparation for the clearance.

UNIBEN Produces 118 First Class Degrees as 19,472 Graduates

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Godwin Oshodin, has revealed that no fewer than 118 graduands of the university would be awarded with first class degrees at its 39th and 40th convocation coming up during the Founder's Day Ceremonies of the institution.

He further revealed that out of a total of 19,472 graduands from the 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 academic sessions, 16,076 would bag first degrees while 130 would be awarded with doctorate degrees.

The award of certificates, diplomas and first degrees, which would hold on November 20, would be preceded by a convocation lecture to be delivered by the Vice-Chancellor of Lancaster University, Professor Mark Smith.
