10 Types Of Freshers You Meet In Campus

I Came across this post in Nairastar and decided to bring it here to create fun.  Here are some of the types of freshers you meet in the campus.  1. The JJCs every little thing amazes them(the buildings, crowd, cars. Etc) You begin to wonder if it is their first time of going out.  2. The ajebohs they flaunt their wealth in the campus and remind you who their father is at every slightest opportunity. They display their phones; take people out for a treat regularly to impress. Majority of the people in this category got the money via extortion from their parents and everything normally cease after their first year in school.  3. The gurus first to ask and answer questions in the class, suggests taking their mates tutorials and depends in the past glory from their secondary school. If you fall in this category, just pray you don’t meet some silent and low key gurus in your class that will outshine you if you don’t work hard.  4. The womanizers the

JAMB 2015 Success Tips

Below are some success tips for candidates preparing for 2015/2016 UTME;

1. Change of mindset: some may wonder "change of mindset", what does it got to do with my exam? Some of us have a wrong set about JAMB exam which is a regular exam aimed at screening for the best though some in the past used malpractices to pass in terms of this new session the board has decided to use CBT method which is a welcome development to curb malpractice.

But as students you need to have the "success mentality" in your education and change that victim mentality (failure). See yourself as a success because that would help you to prepare as one.

Success people think, act and behave successful. After a change of mindset, you move to the next stage of preparation.

2. Set a goal: This principle is simple, set a goal as in target score. I would advise you target a very high score like from 230 and above (my opinion) because it will help you

The Abraham Lincoln case study

I suppose you know the greatest American president(arguably),born into a very poor home, educated for only a year,Lincoln had the desire to learn and to succeed.

His desire made him above all odds realize his dreams. He led America through the end of the civil war.(a Google search about abraham lincoln and the civil war would shed more light on this).

Today,Lincoln is amongst the most admired American leaders.Your desire would make a

I was Inspired by My Boyfriend –UNILORIN Best Graduating Student

Contrary to the idea that having a boyfriend in school is a huge distraction to many, The best graduating student, of UNILORIN from the department of anatomy in the 2013/2014 academic session, Miss Fatima Sulaimon recently in an interview revealed that her boyfriend was a great source of inspiration to her as he was always encouraging her and giving her the necessary support she needed to succeed in her studies.

The 22-year-old is not just proud of her boyfriend, she is also happy with the relationship which according to her is devoid of “inappropriate indulgences”.

“He encouraged me. At times, even if I woke up in the night and I felt dizzy, I would just put a call across to him and after discussing with him, I would feel okay. He was more of a friend. He encouraged, inspired and assisted me.” She asserted.

Top 9 Rules You MUST Observe To Graduate With A First Class

Every serious student that gains admission into
tertiary institutions has the aim of graduating
with a first class/distinction degree but the
reality shows that the number of first class
students in Nigeria’s tertiary institutions is on
the decline. Earning a First Class Honours is,
invariably, a by-product of self-application.

I do not believe that anyone is pre-programmed to
make a third class, or a bare Pass, provided the
individual was qualified in the first instance to
be admitted into the university (even
otherwise).

10 Best Ways to Tackle Failure

Everyone wants their life to be like a smooth sailing boat, but you can’t always escape the ups and downs in life; and the best way out would be to know how to deal with failure. So what is it that you should do to turn the table?
1. Accept It
It is tough to lose your dream, when you are just a few steps away from making it a reality. But then, you can’t keep grumbling. At a certain point, you have to get up and get going all over again. The best way is to accept failure and move on.

2. Be Confident
Don’t let failure take over your esteem and ego. Once you feel it is weighing you down, straighten up like a soldier again. At times of defeat, it is not the failure that will pinch much, but the thought of being ‘not good enough’. Losing your confidence over a disappointment can be devastating.

3. It's Ok to Err
Whatever it may be about, failure can make you lose your composure. This is the time to remind yourself that mistakes maketh experience. Use mistakes as a stepping stone; don’t just sit on them.

4. Treat it as Temporary
When failure strikes, it seems like forever. Treating it like a bad phase will make it end faster. Don’t give much thought to it and it will not bother you much.

5. Take it Easy
You know that worrying does no good. Then why waste time on it? Cheer up and take it easy. Taking things easier on yourself will make your life much simpler and things much better.

6. Fight It
Don’t succumb to defeat. Choose to learn from it. You may think it is easier said than done; try otherwise, and you will know. You may be angry about your situation but will taking the stress out on others help? No, it won’t. It will only make you more miserable. Fight failure by giving it a challenge to get you down and out, and you will end up loving the game.

7. Reassess Your Goals
Maybe you have set extremely high expectations. Maybe your goals aren’t aligned with your objectives. Maybe you are doing it all wrong. The standards that you have set for yourself are significant in deciding your success. Just stop and think whether your capacity is appropriate for your limits or not.

8. Focus
They say when close to failure, duck. But what should you do when failure has struck? To be at ease would be good; the best would be to focus on the present. Start afresh and focus on your dream again.

9. Keep Dreaming
Don’t give up on dreaming. They are the only thing that you get motivation from to accomplish and prove your worth. ‘Nanakorobi Yaoki’ is a Japanese saying that means when you face defeat, keep trying. That’s the essence of coping with failure.

"I Didn’t Have To Read All Night to Make A First Class" - Crescent University Best Graduating Student

Ibrahim Olatunde who emerged the best graduating students of crescent university with a cumulative grade point of 4.76 in Computer Science recently in an interview revealed that while many students stay up at night to read, he usually study in the day as he doesn’t joke with his night sleep.

According to him, he did not allow his desire to become a first class student which was inspired by the 2010 best graduating student, Fatimot Ajagbe, a female to get in the way of his social life in school as he usually create time any time his pocket was fat to have a good time.

Ibrahim also said that though he had a girlfriend in school, this never one day disturbed his studies as the girl was very understanding.

When asked whether he would get married to the girl, he said getting his Master’s and PhD are his priorities right now.

What on Earth Ensures Success? Is it Education?

Hundreds of students graduate from many universities from all parts of Nigeria with outstanding grades, but the problem is unemployment is soaring higher and higher each passing year, what is the problem?

Is it that our schools fail to teach us what we really should know about life, or is it that education through the classroom is simply an old method of operation for a new generation of ours?

What I've noticed is that schools don't teach us how to make or spend money, school don't teach us how to succeed in life which mostly is the reason everyone wants an education.

I think if education alone ensures success we won't have many unsuccessful educated men all around us. So the question is, what is the role of education in ensuring ones success in life.

Universities and their Catchment Areas for JAMB Candidates

This system is a way of recognizing natives of a locality where a school resides. This is one of the reasons why all Nigeria states have at least a University so as to main equality in access to education.

Nevertheless; excellence is not sacrifice on the basis of where you come from, catchment sometimes helps and serves as tie-breaker.

Students who have analyzed their strengths knowing well they cannot compete strongly with others are advised to seek admission in Schools where their states of origin is a catchment.

NOTE: pay attention to this, because I did'nt get to know about this, until now. And uniben just gave me admission to study another course instead of pharmacy, with an aggregate score of 63{i'm from Anambra},
and two of my friends whose aggregate scores were 61{one is from Edo state the other from Delta state} were given pharmacy.

It pained me so much, and

Why Students Failed 2014 JAMB CBT

If you will be sitting for JAMB UTME 2015, Kindly read this.

It is not an unknown fact that some Nigerian students after their JAMB examination will end up scoring zero over 400 ( 0.00/400.00). Last two years when I wrote my first Jamb examination, I had this feeling that I am going to smash the exam with a high grade like at least 350 over 400 but finally I found myself scoring 179 over 400, poor me right I guess.

But I thank Baba God for even making me see my score. Some of my colleagues didn,t even see any thing called grade talk more of scoring 0 over 400, I will share some tips and reason why I failed my examination and also from survey why many students also failed ,
Here are the 10 Reasons why Nigerian students fail JAMB:

[Article] Between Successful and Unsuccessful Students
Success and failure are two distinct things that can never be joined together. Nobody can be the two at the same time, it is either you succeed or fail in whatever you do.
It is pertinent to note that the primary reason every student is in school is to succeed in his/her various field of studies, but yet some students design their path to failure themselves.
Just as the common saying goes, “man proposes but God disposes,” everyone works toward his/her destiny and God Almighty helps those who help themselves.
Many students feel too inferior in the midst of their colleagues and always believe they can’t be as good as their colleagues. This is the first problem unsuccessful students’ face.
Successful students are never pessimistic, they are optimists. They always see opportunity in everything they do.  Nobody wants to be a failure, or wants to be addressed as one, but the truth of the matter is that many students are failures.

As a UNN Fresher Coming for the First Time

Many freshers have been asking me some troubling questions. As a fresher, some of the major things that should be on your mind now is "where do I stay before I secure a hostel accommodation? What is the first step to take towards my clearance and so on ?"

These are the things that should occupy your mind. All you need to do is to find a family friend, a friend you already know that is in school to accommodate you for like a week or few days before you get your own accommodation.

This is why we have been asking you all to pay your acceptance fee and get ready to pay your school fees the moment it starts because without paying these fees, you wont be allowed to apply for an accommodation in the hostel.

Do Women Make Better Teachers than Men?

In my primary school days, I was taught by female teachers all through; but in secondary school, 85% of my teachers were females; while at the university, 100% of my lecturers were male.

I think female teachers are better teachers than their male counterpart because they are more tolerant when dealing with students.

Although some few female teachers could be very strict but in all they are better.

So who do you think makes a better teacher: male or female?

Words Of Advice For The Newly Admitted Students

I need you to understand that all am about to tell
you here are what we have seen and what still happens, so read to the end.

For the admitted ones the questions on their minds are; when is school resuming? Should we start coming to school? When is clearance starting? Should we start paying for school fees and so on? Those are right questions but Beyond these, there are certain valuable things you also need to know.

First of all, big congratulations for having made it
and congratulations in advance to those yet to be
admitted. It's not easy.

Do not feel you are better than those who couldn't make it or will not make it, rather; give God all the praises because its not as if you read or prepared more than they did, its not as if you did more or took more risks than they did, you all read, prepared, did equal expenses and took same risks but God has favoured you and said this is your time.

Most Challenging Courses to Study in Nigeria

Nigrian Education Updates Members No course studied in the higher institution seems easy, but some are brutal and can snuff life outta you. However, don't get afraid of them. They're actually interesting. So grab a packet of popcorn as I take you through them.

1. Engineering: the name of this course speaks for itself already. The dudes that study this course eh.....*winks*. It undeniably houses all heavy weight courses in engine faculty like chemical engineering, mechanical, production, petroleum...etc..any guy you see rushing to lecture hall with a punching calculator, they're engine boys o.

2.Medicine: What makes this course challenging, is because you'll be forced to read(jack) like your life depends on the degree of knowledge you obtain from their heavy an bulky textbooks. Some of them actually do go for thanksgiving, when they pass their MBBS exam, that contains Anatomy, physiology and biochem.

3.Biochemistry: people usually think that it's a combination of biology and chemistry. If you're one of such, abeg, it's a wrong impression. You will actually get familiar with Bio molecules and giant Organic structures, that will choke you up. This course requires much logic.

What makes it challenging,is that you'll have to learn a lot within a short duration. Metabolic pathways might seem frustrating atimes...*winks*. Another thing about this course is that their lecturers are always sadists, due to long years of studying brutal carbohydrate and enzyme structures.

4.Chemistry: I call this course the power, because these dudes can mix chemical concoctions of Ammonia and HCL and blow everywhere...chem guys, I dey joke o....Its actually one of the most difficult in physical science, because you'll make friends with differential equation in physical chemistry, which will leave you wondering if you're studying maths or chemical reactions.

10 Most Marketable Courses In Nigeria

Caveat: This is not based on hard data but on
observations. It is compiled by JarusHub editor and
2 other contributors to this site.

Note also that this is not based on who earns the highest salary, but who has potential to earn decent income with his degree.

Potential is the operative word here.

Here we go:
10. Mass Communication/Journalism: Mass
Communication will remain a marketable because
not many Universities do it, but many institutions
need it. The downside is, journalism is not seen as
exclusive preserve of MassComm graduates, as
graduates of almost any course are recruited by
news outfits. Yet, the course still stands a decent
chance.

9. Law: Maybe the supply is fast outstripping
demand and affecting pricing, Law has declined in
economic value. However, it remains a Top 10
course. Whether you decide to practice or go into
corporate world, or you decide to go into allied
things like real estate agency, you still stand a
decent chance of earning decent income with a Law
degree.

8. Nursing/Laboratory Science: Nurses don’t earn
mouth-watering pay, but they

Then there’s Efua, the beautiful and mysterious new girl in class who seems to have no time for boys – including Jimi. But when Jimi’s mother falls ill, he realizes that things are about to change - and not
necessarily in a good way.

Simple Steps to Becoming the Best You can be

I am sure you are convinced that what a man can do, a woman can do better but not everything that a man do that a woman can do. But it won't happen without you making up your mind to become the best you can. SUCCESS COMES WITH A PRICE TAG AND THOSE WHO ARE NOT READY TO PAY THE PRICE CAN'T ENJOY THE RISE. Success is not automatic and failure is not also but your input will determine your output.

All the people you have seen at the top of the ladder of success perspire to acquire their desire which they admire, and never retire but re-fire until they become the best. The moment you stop to aspire, you begin to expire. Let us see some of these proven principles of success:
