Trending news as the Federal College of Education (FCE), Pankshin, in Plateau State matriculated 3, 428 (NCE 1) students yesterday, with strong warning against any negative tendencies.
Acting Provost of the College, Dr Emele Kalu, who conducted the matriculation at the college graduation arena, described it as “very unique serving as the official acceptance of the students for academic activities”.
Kalu said, “Today we are formally matriculating 3, 428 students in the NCE I programme in the six schools of the college: Adult and Non-formal Education; Arts and
Special Sciences, ECCE and PES, Languages, Science and Vocational and Technology.
“You must all discard negatives tendencies and show commitment to your studies and respect to the rule of law on campus.
“By your matriculation oath, you have solemnly vowed to abide by the rules and regulations of the college, attend lectures regularly and shun all anti-social activities especially examination malpractice.
“The college will not hesitate to show any recalcitrant student the way out of its gate because we don’t condone indiscipline here”, the Provost warned.
He called on parents and guardians not to leave everything to the teachers and the college, saying “you must also guide, direct and discipline your wards at home for the realization of our collective aspirations.”
While congratulating the students, Kalu said they should count themselves extremely lucky having been found worthy to face the challenge in the training in the teaching profession.
He thanked the federal ministry of education, NCCE and TETfund for being the strength of the successes so far witnessed in the college.
According to him, “the college is currently enjoying TETfund’s intervention that is changing the face of the institution infrastructurally, and giving the students the desired atmosphere to study”.
