Change In UNILAG Medical Cut-Off Mark Leads To Students Protest

Latest gist as the Medical students of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) on Wednesday protested the decision of the schools's management to increase the cut-off mark they must meet to continue with their medical training.

The demonstrating students usually proceed to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) in Idiaraba after their first year on the university’s main campus.

It was learnt the initial cut-off mark they were required to
meet was 2.50-grade point (GP) and now the management has taken the decision to make it 4.00 GP without giving current students any warning or special considerations.

Students who are unable to meet the required GP have already been notified to change to other faculties.

It was also gathered that efforts by the student union leaders to get to negotiate with the management proceed abortive which necessitated the protest by the students.
