Imo Poly Graduates Shun by NYSC Over non-accreditation of course

Really some sad news, as graduates of the Imo
State Polytechnic, Umuagwo, were dismissed
from the 2013 Batch ‘C’ National Youth
Service Corps orientation camps across all
camps in Nigeria for non-accreditation of their
courses of study.

The Pathfinder Newswatch correspondent was also
able to gathered that the aggrieved graduates
yesterday visit the Government House, Owerri, to
protest their plight.

The aggrieved students, some of whom were putting on NYSC uniforms, were grieved over what they described as delay by the management of their academic institution to intervene in the matter.

While addressing the protesting students, the
governor of Imo State, governor Rochas Okorocha
reassured the students that his government
would quickly resolve the matter immediately.
The governor was also astonished that
the
graduates were dismissed from various NYSC
orientation camps across the nation.

Some of the enraged graduates started narrating
their ordeals, some of them explained that they
were dismissed from the orientation camps
because the courses they studied were not
accredited by the National Board for Technical
Education, NBTE.

However, one of the graduates told the governor
that he was one of the many posted to Plateau
State, adding after all the necessary
documentations, students of Imo State
Polytechnic were ordered to go to the
administrative block with their statement of
results.

He also disclosed this and we quote him in his
word:

“We obeyed and they brought out their master
list and started cross checking our files. Our
statement of result tallied with our various fields
but our call up letters bore different courses.
“They ended up accusing us that we forged our
results and sent us packing from NYSC orientation
camp,” the aggrieved youth told Okorocha.

“The officials were insistent that would not work
with what we presented. They asked us to go and
meet the school management. They threw all of
us out and collected our kits,” the boy lamented.
We just hope that the governor do something
really fast, these students/graduates time should
not be put to waste.
