The Federal Polytechnic Ado Ekiti has been temporarily shut down
following protest by part time students of the institution over
increment in school fees from N9,000 to N34,000.
According to the students the Rector, Mrs. Theresa Taiwo Akande, did not
fulfill the promise she made during her meeting with the Students
Representatives that the school fees will be increased only at four
years interval.
Commenting, the Deputy Registrar (Information), Ade Adeyemi-Adejolu, confirmed the temporal closure of the school.
“They are not our regular students but part time students just resuming.
They are
not supposed to be part of any union. There is peace in the
school already but it has been shut down. The management is talking with
them.” He said.
