UNIABUJA Student Dies after Ingesting "Mosquitoe Dispeller"

Chiwendu Okafor, A 200-level political science student of the University of Abuja, died in what looked like a suicide after ingesting a substance known as sniper meant for dispelling mosquitoes.

He was said to have collapsed after taking the substance and was met in his apartment foaming from the mouth and rushed to the University’s Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada for medical attention but was later confirmed dead.

According to a source the deceased was a lively and a well known person in his department why he decided to take his life is what remains unexplainable.


The students of the institution were said to have protested what they called negligence on the part of the hospital saying the deceased could have survived if the medical officers had given him prompt medical attention.
