The National Board for Technical Education has accredited 12 new programmes for the Federal Polytechnic Mubi, Adamawa State.
The Rector of the polytechnic, Sadiq Yahya, said four Higher National
Diploma and eight National Diploma courses in the school received the
board’s nod.
He spoke in Kaduna on Monday while receiving the institution’s Governing Council members.
He stated that the school submitted 13 of its programmes to NBTE for
accreditation but 12 sailed through the board’s quality assurance
mechanism.
Yahya, who applauded the move, said steps were on to remedy the deficiency in the outstanding programme.
He also noted that the board had already given the polytechnic the
approval to admit students to the programmes in the 2013/2014 academic
session.
Expressing concern over the lingering industrial action by two of the
three unions in the polytechnic sector, the rector appealed to the
unions to consider the plight of students and return to classes.
Yahya, who noted that the Federal Government had taken steps to address
the demands of the unions, urged them to ensure the amicable resolution
of all the issues.
The Governing Council’s Chairman and former Rector of the Federal
Polytechnic, Bauchi, Sa’idu Ibrahim-Jahun, commended the rector for
achieving the accreditation success under his leadership.
